Job Title: Medical Director
Location: Lagos, Nigeria
Job Description
- A Medical Director is a professional such as a Physician who is employed by a Hospital, or a healthcare provider to oversee operations, set policies and help to make informed medical decisions.
- Holds the Senior medical Administrative position in a medical center.
- Responsible for a number of activities related to the delivery of medical care and clinical services such as Cost management, utilization review, quality assurance and medical protocol development.
- A Family Physician whois a fellow with West African family physicians and a member of society of family physicians in Nigeria.
- He/ she is involved in the activities of the Medical officers and consultants, including the recruiting and credentialing process.
- Reports to the Human Resource Directory of the hospital.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Attend meetings.
- Develop and manage a budget, including presenting monthly financial reports with the supports of the Hospital Account office.
- Monitor quality and appropriateness of medical care (Doctors, nurses, laboratory, Pharmacy and Diagnostics).
- Case file audit (Clinical).
- Provide guidance and leadership for performance guidelines.
- Develop policies and procedures.
- Manage strategic development.
- Oversee clinical peer review.
- Oversee documentation and care planning.
- Manage strategic development.
- Handle Clinical patient complaints.
- Handles the different clinic days.
- Address emergency issues.
- Handles Clinical, Mortality and Morbidity meeting.
- Support physician education.
- Manage community relations.
- Handle physicians’ behavior and impairment issues.
- In charge of all aspect of patient management especially difficult cases.
- Liaise with external agencies e.g. HMO, Retainership, government bodies e.t.c.
- Debt Recovery.
Requirements
- Candidates must be Medical / Dental Practitioners registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria of not less than Seven (7) years post qualification.
- Candidates must have been consultants for a minimum of 3 years.
- Candidates must be medically fit.
- General surgeon with strong surgical and clinical skills.
- Candidates must be of proven good character and integrity.
