In the UK, Registered General Nurses (RGN) are also referred to as Registered Adult Nurses.

Registered general nursing is one of the specializations in Nursing. Nurses’ duties vary depending on their specialization and the area of healthcare they work in.

Registered general nurses work majorly in hospitals. However, RGN is not limited to working in a hospital, as they can as well work in assisted living facilities, homes, clinics, schools, and a lot more.

Registered general nurses can also major in specific areas such as family practice, labour and delivery, cardiac care, geriatrics, paediatrics, and emergency nursing. Regardless of the area of healthcare a Registered General Nurse works in, there are certain general duties expected to be carried out by a Registered General Nurse.

This post is going to guide you on the step to take to become a UK nurse.

STEP 1

You Need to have an International Passport as you will be needing it during this process so if you don’t have one please apply. For Nigerians, you can apply Online by yourself by Clicking on this link ???? APPLY FOR INTERNATIONAL PASSPORT

STEP2.

You will Need to have an Approved English test result so either you have an IELTS or you have OET with an Approved Band Score.

For IELTS

listening 7

Reading 7

Writing 6.5

Speaking 7

Overall, you should be having 7

You can also Check the NMC-UK website for an ????Approved Score for IELTS  or OET.

For IELTS, there are an Approved two test Organisations in Nigeria:

If you don’t want to write the IELTS Academic which is about #84,000 you can sit for the Occupation English Test (OET, it is about #159,000 currently) –
Minimum of Reading – B, Listening – B, Speaking- B, Writing – C+.this you can book on OET website ?????? Book for your OET

People Normally ask me do I have to pass my IELTS first before I register with Nursing and Midwifery council UK? And I always tell them NO. Infact, you can Begin your NMC-UK Application without your IELTS result. Infact, because of the long period it take people to be verified as a Nurse in Nigeria from their Local Nursing Council, I always tell them to begin their registration first and get verified while they are preparing for their IELTS.

STEP 3

Open an Account with NMC-UK ????CLICK HERE. If you are a Registered Nurse, you will need to register as ‘Adult Nurse’ among the drop down  respectively.

After filling all your information, you will now proceed to Pay £140 for evaluation (Note you can’t pay with your master card so you will need someone abroad to help you pay with ease and I am your sure plug) CONTACT ME TO HELP YOU PAY?

At this stage, you need to upload the data page of your international passport, certificate (notification can be used here if your NMC qualification certificate isn’t available) as part of the required information. After you have paid the £140 you will now proceed to verification with your Local Nursing council which for Nigerians is NMCN.

You’ll have a personal page with NMC-UK through which you can monitor your progress all through the whole registration process to login you can always Click HERE

For people In Nigeria: you need to generate a remita code through the remita website to apply with NMCN.for your Verification
TAKE NOTE, for now, the process has commenced online for those with updated professional update form, or you can Contact comfort to help you out on +2349073113775.

You will need to write a Hand written letter of intent requesting for verification and good standing (you must include your CRM number Number which will be sent to your mail after paying the £140 this CRM number can be found at the top left corner of the mail

The letter should be addressed to NMCN and should include your name and the exact thing you want i.e verification and good standing with NMC UK. And like I said you can reach  Comfort to help you out except you just like stress? You might have to wait for weeks or months to be verified by NMCN.

You will get a mail from Pearson vue as a Sign you have been fully verified with an authorization to test email  (the organization that handles the CBT exam) to book CBT.

To Book the CBT (£83) and write the exam. You will need to  buy a voucher code which I am your Sure plug so Contact for your CBT Code ?????? CLICK HERE TO GET A CBT VOUCHER  You will get a voucher code within 24-48 hours which you can input when you get to the payment stage of your CBT booking on Pearson site.

STEP4

Fill the final form by NMC UK which includes an upload of name of medical regulator, police clearance, notification/certificate and IELTS(academics)/OET result (without this, you can’t progress beyond this stage and you must have the expected bands) among others.
Pay the final registration fee of £153 ?????? Contact me to help you with that to NMC UK. If you don’t have the fee immediately, you can pay when you get to UK, you only need proof of police check, cbt, ielts, offer letter, COS, visa checklist, TB test report for your Visa application BUT PLEASE LOOK FOR MONEY AND PAY IT FOR YOUR OWN GOOD.

In the past, you would have to wait for a decision letter but its no longer the case, you are only left with the need to take your OSCE exam once you are in the UK.

STEP 5

You can start looking for a job at this stage but ensure you have passed CBT and IELTS/OET.

For care homes, apply ?????? HERE

The benefits for care home vs NHS vary, choosing one depends on what you want and try researching on both before making a choice. Generally, care homes are believed to pay more but NHS hospitals are better for career advancement. Alternatively, you can send emails to some trusts to show interest in working for them.

STEP 6 GETTING AN OFFER LETTER.
After getting an offer you are comfortable with, you will have to sign the offer letter (Please ensure you read the offer letter very well to your understanding) and send your documents to the trust. Do not sign more than one offer PLEASE…

 

NOTE: some trust want you to fund your visa process and Flight ticket by yourself when you get to uK, they will pay you back for sure but sometimes they might not pay back so you will need to ask them if it is not stated on the offer letter.

STEP 7 GETTING THE CERTIFICATE OF SPONSORSHIP (COS).
Your Trust you got a Job with will send you the Certificate of Sponsorships after the offer letter (this replaces bank statements other direct visa applicants have to submit). It shows you have a sponsor that will support your stay in the UK.

This COS also contains an employment start date. Ensure you don’t have more than one trust processing this for you as it is quite expensive which makes it unfair for the trusts and it can cause problems for you with the home office.

You need a valid tuberculosis test (about #57,800 with 6 months validity) and police clearance (ranging from #5,000 to 10,000 depending on location, it has 3 months validity).

STEP 8 PREPARING FOR YOUR OSCE

The final stage is writing your OSCE (This can only be done in the UK). YOUR TRUST IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PREPARING YOU FOR OSCE EXAMS TO HAVE YOUR PIN TO PRACTICE AS A NURSE IN UK.

  2. Is it possible to go to Canada and do your masters and start the application there
    And must I have worked 5yrs or so before going to do my masters and start the application
